this piece explores the tension between two conflicting identities shaped by my upbringing. a member of both gen-z and the serbian orthodox church, I was torn between embodying a stylized, sexualized online persona and the modest, pure ideal of a religious woman. this struggle reflects a distorted sense of self and the transformation—and disappearance—between these extremes.

social commentary, 02:28

excerpt from statement of theory: "Illustrating the female experience through a traditionally feminized activity was a crucial factor in the abstraction of my piece...The process of beginning, undoing, restitching, working around and under, tying, cutting, and uniting these materials doubled as a characterization of the trials and tribulations of being a woman. Every single day, we overcome stereotypes, stigmas, labels, and male-oriented standards that attempt to dictate our gender, sexuality, and existence."

inspired by the 1970s feminist american art movement (specifically pattern and decoration + arts and crafts) and visuals from viking eggeling's "symphony diagonale"

political commentary, 02:28

during the summer of 2021, I aided in the organization of BLMCA (Black Lives Matter Community Action), an activism group dedicated to addressing systemic racism within our town. our efforts gained momentum following the arrest of tianna arata, a 20-year-old activist advocating for justice after the death of george floyd. through my involvement, I began documenting our protests, chants, and marches—capturing the relentless dedication and collective resilience of those fighting for change.
